Exhibition and Lecture: FIU, Miami Beach Urban Studios
The second solo exhibition of the Oculi Sound Chamber is entitled "Architecture in Resonance with the Cosmos," which opens on November 19 and continues through January 22, 2016, at Florida International University's Miami Beach Urban Studios.
I will be delivering a lecture on restoring our resonance with Earth and the cosmos, and on the designs and mapping of cosmological dwellings. The lecture will be followed by a reception, 7:00-9:00 pm, on Dec 1st, 2015.

Oculi Sound Chamber:
Let’s restore ancient wisdom’s place in contemporary consciousness by providing educational awareness of cultural elements of the past in a new context, so that people may incorporate them into the evolution of a thoughtful and vibrant future.
Prototype: Oculi Sound Chamber
The Oculi Sound Chamber Dwelling project aims to fulfill three educational ambitions: (1) the enhancement of human experiences with the vibrations of sound and light, and with the ambiance of the cosmos; (2) the utilization of an ingeniously sustainable past building technique of compression-only masonry vaulting through computational methods, to find new expressive structural forms; and (3) the bridging of ancient Native American and contemporary cultures, specifically how these ancient cultures interpreted their place on Earth into cosmological dwelling expressions.

Architecture & Engineering the Cosmos -2003 - 2013: Lecture & Exhibition
One typically considers the cosmos as the universe, located in or encompassing outer space. This installation expresses the architecture and engineering of the cosmos here on Earth. The ideas behind this installation arose out of (a) efforts to understand the ancient pueblo culture (900 to 1130 AD) in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, specifically how the Chacoan people interpreted their place on Earth into cosmological dwelling expressions; and (b) the research of compression-only masonry vaulting building techniques to find new expressive structural form.
Over the past ten years, Simon Koumjian III, of SKIII Spacevariations, LLC has initiated a series of nine interdisciplinary research projects for a dwelling and earthwork site design to be built on a property of 18.4 acres, located in the southeast region of Utah.
